The
life
of a certified aircraft maintenance supervisor with
Continental Airlines is a life built on big blocks of time – both on
the job and off. In 2001, Brian Fenner was looking for a flexible
start-up business he could work in the 3-4 days off between 12-hour
graveyard shifts at Newark International Airport. He was investigating
a way to fix paint chips on his car when he discovered windshield
repair. In a providential turn of events,
Brian
also
attended his first Mobile Tech Expo in 2001.
He felt it would help in his research into exactly
which direction to take. Exposed to many options at the
show, it was listening to other technicians’ talk that
helped him make his final decision.
“I walked around the
show and there was no shortage of reputable
systems. They all look good; they all have their
benefits; but while I was investigating the Delta Kits
booth, I kept hearing technicians, currently
contracted with various other systems, say that in
retrospect, they wished they had gone with Delta
Kits.”
Opening
his
own business in 2002
as Safe Glass Technologies in
Easton, PA, Brian never doubted his
decision. “Delta Kits is what I like to
call ‘advanced technology designed with simplicity in
mind’. It is a user-friendly system and provides
the manufacturer’s training needed for quick start-up.”
However, Brian did not stop with just the factory
certifications
and training.
Brian
is
in fact, just the kind of person you want
overseeing the safety
of thousands of people in an airplane,
and he feels no differently about automotive safety. “My
aviation background instills in me high
standards and ethics – you don’t take chances with
people’s lives. I am certified by the FAA to assure
Continental’s fleet meets FAA safety
standards and it is a job I take seriously,”
he says. His professionalism got him nominated by his
peers to the executive committee for the
National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA). He is
both factory and industry-trained and certified
by the NWRA and the National Glass Association (NGA).
